Monthly Meetings (2019)

Meetings are free & and open to the public.
They are held at the Edinburg Community Center at 47 Military Road, Edinburg, NY 12134.
Meetings are the third Tuesday of the month March through November.
They start at 7pm, following a brief business meeting.
Refreshments are served after the talk.
Our 2019 lineup of meeting speakers:
  • March 19, 2019: Annual welcome and organizational meeting. Open Board Meeting with all members. All welcome. No speaker.
  • April 16, 2019: Maria Spaeth will speak on the History of the Sand Hill school which the society has recently acquired as a generous gift from Roy Pearsall and his family.
  • May 21, 2019: Centarean member Norma Porteus will speak on “The Last Hundred Years”. This meeting also marks the Copeland Covered Bridge (from 1879) 140th Anniversary.
  • June 18, 2019: Historians Gail Cramer and Priscilla Edwards will speak on Osborn Bridge.
  • July 16, 2019: Bruce Brownell will talk on Round House history
  • August 20, 2019: Members talking about House Histories. There will also be a Nominations Report for officers and trustees.
  • September 17, 2019: 6 pm Pot Luck Dinner followed by 7 p.m. meeting. This is an important business meeting with the election of new officers and trustees and collection of dues. Bring a dinner dish or other food item to share if you can. The potluck dinner starts at 6 pm, one hour before the regular meeting. Collection of dues for members.
  • October 15, 2019: Joanne Blaauboer, Northampton Historian will talk on Fish House History.
  • November 19, 2019: Pies and Reminiscences. CANCELLED DUE TO BAD WEATHER

Our big community events in 2019 are:

  • July 13, 2019: Saturday — 10 am to 3 pm — HISTORIC EDINBURG DAY
  • September 28, 2019: Saturday — 10 am to 3 pm — EDINBURG FALL FESTIVAL

Also, EHS provides cookies for the December 1 – Tree Lighting in Edinburg.

Board Meeting Dates: usually 2nd Wednesday of each month – 9:00 a.m.. @ Edinburg Community Center (all members are welcome to attend)
April 10; May 8; June 12; July 10; August 14; September 11; October 9; November 13
