The Society wishes to express condolences to the family of Roy Pearsall on his passing. The children of Edinburg learned so much from visiting the one-room school house he maintained. His effort was a great public service to us all. Roy will be greatly missed. For more about Roy’s life, see this Leader Herald article.
On May 16, 2017, David Brooks, Education Director at Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site will talk on “History and Hearsay” with a virtual tour and interesting tales from along the Erie Canal & Fort Hunter.
Please note: This meeting will start with a Pot Luck Dinner at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to bring your favorite dish.
André Garand, Master Carpenter, will speak on “Restoration of Old Buildings” at our next monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 7:00 p.m at the Edinburg Community Center. Beyond André’s work on historical structures elsewhere, Edinburg has been so fortunate to have André around to repair and restore the Nellie Tyrrell museum, the Copeland Covered Bridge, the Copeland Carriage Shop, and the Rural Museum. André has also helped the Society in other ways, like by restoring our treadle-powered scroll saw and teaching a new generation how to use it.
