Last summer (2013) a beautiful framed set of three photos taken by Norma Porteus of the old Batchellerville Bridge was raffled.
This summer (2014), our raffle item was a Handmade King Size Patriotic Quilt donated by Kathy Frasier Kennah in tribute to her father Leon Frasier, whose family is from Edinburg. Leon’s military uniform is on exhibit at Edinburg’s Historic Nellie Tyrrell Museum.
The raffle drawing took place at our Fall Festival on September 20, 2014. The winners were Cliff and Joan Wray of Edinburg. Joan, who was not feeling well at the time, joked it was the first thing she had won in her life. Sadly, Joan passed away a couple weeks after the raffle took place. The Society expresses our condolences to Cliff and the rest of her family. We are thankful we could add some extra sparkle to the last days of her life, which included many years of service as an operating room nurse.
